XXX: NEMO & de Hallen

Voor de jaarwisseling gingen we twee dagen naar Amsterdam. Een blog over de eerste dag vind je hier. 

Dag twee begonnen we met koffie en ontbijt bij de Coffee Company aan de Kinkerstraat onderweg naar NEMO. Eerst enigszins geschrokken van de drukte qua bezoekers, maar vooral ook gezien de keuzestress. Uiteindelijk leuk om veel te ontdekken en daarna heerlijk relaxt te lunchen in de stad bij Cafe de Jaren.

We bezochten het Paleis op de Dam met een leuke speurtocht voor de kids en eindigden onze citytrip opnieuw bij de Kinkerstraat, waar we De Hallen bezochten. Een voormalig treinremise omgetoverd tot een hippe plek met naast lekker eten in de Foodhallen, ook leuke shops zoals ReCycle voor hippe opgeknapte fietsen en Local Goods Store; een prachtige winkel met mooie locale merken zoals Uncoverlab, Stout Konijn, Gewoon Jip en v@amsterdam.

Fijn om onze dagen in Amsterdam op deze originele place-to-be af te sluiten!

The second day of our citytrip to Amsterdam we started at the Coffee Company at the Kinkerstraat and after exploring NEMO, having lunch at Cafe de Jaren and visiting the Royal Palace at the Dam we also finished our trip near the Kinkerstraat, while visiting De Hallen. A former tram depot beautifully transformed into a great building to eat, shop or go to the movies. 

A must-visit if you are in Amsterdam!

XXX: EYE & NDSM

 

Na onze citytrip met de kids naar Rotterdam begin 2015 en het goede voornemen dit jaarlijks te doen, gingen we de dagen voor de jaarwisseling naar Amsterdam.
Twee superleuke dagen met op de eerste dag een bezoek aan EYE, rondstruinen op het inspirerende NDSM-eiland en lunchen bij Pllek, met het pontje terug naar het centrum van Amsterdam en borrelen aan de Prinsengracht bij Cafe de Prins; een heerlijke dag met als afsluiting in de avond een telkens-weer-indrukwekkend bezoek aan het Anne Frank Huis.

Two of the last days of 2015 we went on a citytrip to Amsterdam. Some tips for a nice visit with kids:
* visiting the EYE-museum which can be reached by boat from Amsterdam CS
* having lunch at Plekk, a nice restaurant at the NDSM-eiland; and
* visiting the Anne Frank House with online tickets to avoid the very long line.

Last sunday we visited the Pinned Up exhibition of Marcel Wanders at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Especially loving his basic designs, realizing I own some of his designs because of his collaborations with Randstad, my former employer, and some because I had a crush on his timeless designs myself.

Go visit his exhibition at the Stedelijk until june 15 yourself!

just enjoying life

Looking back on such a nice Easter weekend with my love: having dinner at Het Koelhuis on friday evening, visiting and falling in love with Delft, enjoying sun and laziness at Whoosah Scheveningen, lunch at Dudok The Haque, Easter breakfast at Kek Delft, having a drink outside at the Molenpad, Prinsengracht Amsterdam after visiting Pinned Up by Marcel Wanders at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam (more about that later in a new post :)). 

Realizing I didn't take as much pictures as I intended to, because I just wanted to enjoy and capture the moments together.

M is for ... - blessings

M is for Museum and for Marco or actually for celebrating Marco's b-day visiting the Rijksmuseum on this saturday. Lovely to end a nice week this way and start the holiday with the kids.

Love the Rijksmuseum, such a great building exposing wonderful art, like the 'Nachtwacht' by Rembrandt (the kids favorite :)) but also more modern art like the Rietveld chair in white. Not being able to see the whole art collection yesterday, so considering to buy a museum card to visit it again and again, and also visiting the Marcel Wanders exhibition Pinned Up at the Stedelijk Museum soon :)

Ending our trip to Amsterdam having diner at Magnetico, the former Praq-restaurant in a red fleapit at Zeeburgereiland. Such a relaxed place to have dinner with kids.

Love the pinsipration I get from scrolling on Pinterest or pinning new pins wandering around in the webworld.
This week (12-18 August) the first PIN gallery is taking place in Amsterdam with a selection of great pictures collected by eight Dutch pinners, initiated by Studio Sjoesjoe and 101woonideeen. Unfortunately I can't be there this week, but I hope this pop-up exhibition will be continued in the near future!
