XXX: EYE & NDSM

 

Na onze citytrip met de kids naar Rotterdam begin 2015 en het goede voornemen dit jaarlijks te doen, gingen we de dagen voor de jaarwisseling naar Amsterdam.
Twee superleuke dagen met op de eerste dag een bezoek aan EYE, rondstruinen op het inspirerende NDSM-eiland en lunchen bij Pllek, met het pontje terug naar het centrum van Amsterdam en borrelen aan de Prinsengracht bij Cafe de Prins; een heerlijke dag met als afsluiting in de avond een telkens-weer-indrukwekkend bezoek aan het Anne Frank Huis.

Two of the last days of 2015 we went on a citytrip to Amsterdam. Some tips for a nice visit with kids:
* visiting the EYE-museum which can be reached by boat from Amsterdam CS
* having lunch at Plekk, a nice restaurant at the NDSM-eiland; and
* visiting the Anne Frank House with online tickets to avoid the very long line.

Een zwarte muur in huis is zo mooi. In balans met veel wit en voldoende lichtinval. Vorige week hebben we (zoals in ons vorige huis*) weer een wand zwart geverfd en ik wordt er oprecht blij van.

pop-up trip

De start van onze zomervakantie naar Zuid Frankrijk met een korte citytrip naar Milaan voelde als een feestje. Een beetje onvoorbereid, waardoor we juist spontaan leuke, inspirerende plekken ontdekten. Zoals de 'mini' IKEA #IKEAtemporary waar we terecht kwamen toen we eigenlijk op zoek waren naar de designwinkel Salvatore + Marie aan de Via Vigenova. Verrast door deze leuke IKEA pop-upstore met bijzondere inspiratie voor duurzaam wonen en koken in een mooi oud industrieel pand en in de nog leukere wijk Navigli. 

Een hippe wijk om rond te struinen, om - hoe kan het ook anders in Italie -lekker te eten, om leuke winkeltjes te ontdekken zoals Brandstorming aan de Via Corsico en om nog een keer terug te komen!

Exploring Milano on a short citytrip at the beginning of our holiday. Such a beautiful city with Navigli as a lovely and inspiring neighbourhood. Visiting the nice pop up store #IKEAtemporary at the Via Vigenova. It felt like a party to start our holiday like this.

blessings on a rainy day

After some sunny days, luckily even on Kingsday last monday when the kids were selling toys on the thrift market, it started raining cats and dogs when we were on our way to visit the Honigcomplex in Nijmegen this afternoon. It was nevertheless nice to wander around at this industrial complex, visiting skatepark Waalhalla, drinking Blommers coffee at First things first, admiring the building and art at Galerie Bart and finding Wally :)

Just love former industrial surroundings with new creative initiatives.

IXXI love

 

IXXI design is a great concept to change your wall and interior in an instant. On the IXXI-site you can pick and choose from their continiously changing image bank and special collection or design your own IXXI by using your own picture(s). Making a collage, an enlargement or a pixel-ixxi consisting of square cards connected by x's and i's.

I really enjoyed designing my personal IXXI eye-catcher. Using a picture of a painting bought in Beiing and Pip's wooden china girl. It has a special place in our living room, but it will be on Pip's room in the future. Thnx to the easy way to just move it to another wall without leaving behind ugly wholes.
