have a happy orange day!

Every year we celebrate Queensday on the 30th of April. But this year is a special one, because from now on we will have a King and a Queen in Holland and next year we will celebrate Kingsday on the 27th of April. Organizing games, selling and buying secondhand stuff and having a party together.
Last year we stayed in Amsterdam together, visiting the Vondelpark with the kids. This year I will stay in our hometown with the kids, remembering the wonderful day in Amsterdam together last year.

Enjoy a happy orange Queensday tomorrow!

bloginspiratie: liebster blogaward

via Interieurstylist

Last month I was lucky to receive two! Liebster blogawards.
One given by Mirjam from Hallo September and the other by Karin from Interieurstylist

I decided to not pass it through to other bloggers. Not because I don't know nice blogs who deserve it. But because many of those blogs already received this award once or even more than once.
Still I wanted to thank and mention the lovely blogcolleagues who gave me one, because their blogs are really worth following!
And since I like to share something of myself on my blog I also decided to answer the questions they asked me:

What’s your favourite moment of the day?
I have more than one favourite moment of the day. But when I have to make a choice it's the evening being at home, spending time with the kids, having time to blog or just do nothing in particular. I would love to have more hours in one day :)

As a child what did you want to become ‘when I’m old’? (And did you?)
I wanted to become a stewardess and I almost did after finishing my psychology study and working a few years in a recruitment job. But when I got hired by KLM, I changed plans. With mixed feelings: feeling sorry for having missed all that inspiration while travelling, but also happy for having continued my HR career.

What’s your favourite magazine?
I am an addict when it comes to interior magazines, with VTwonen being my favourite! But also inspired by MILK magazine and La Petite Mag

Do you eat Chines food with chopsticks?
We don't eat Chinese food a lot, but love Italian food!

Tell about a family tradition.
Almost every sunday we have breakfast together called 'ontbijtje-met-een-eitje'. So nice to start this day-off together after a busy schedule during weekdays.

Do you mind losing a (board) game?
We don't play games a lot, but I don't like to lose, unless I play games with my children :)

Red or white wine?
Definitely white.

Name your favourite city
Amsterdam, because it feels so relaxed to be there. Love shopping in 'de 9 straatjes' and to wander around in the Jordaan. But I would love to show Paris to the kids soon, or go to Berlin or New York with my husband. In the mood for much more citytrips in the future!

If you could choose another first name which one would it be?
Evelyn. It's my second name and I've always loved it.

What's the first blog you read after starting up your computer?
While using the bloglist on my own blog to follow others, it is usually the most recent blogpost posted by any of these great blogs.

Why did you start blogging?
At the time I started my blog I still had my webshop KEET&koter, selling interior and kids accessories. While searching for styling ideas and new products, I just felt the urge to share the pictures that inspired me.

What is your favourite season of the year?
Being born in june I love the summer, enjoying the sun and oh my those long days....

Vinyl or CD?
I listen to music on my iPod :)

What inspires you?
Pinterest, Instagram, my favourite blogs, magazines, my kids and daily life!

What's your favourite music?
I have an eclectic musical taste. Recently I downloaded some up-tempo music to start running again.

What do you think is beautiful about yourself?
I'm happy to have a positive view on life. Knowing this will help me in good and bad times

What's your favourite thing to do?
Enjoying the little blessings of everyday life spent with the ones I love and trust.

Your way to spent me-time?
At home: styling, reading magazines, blogging, pinning, making pictures, actually getting inspired en sharing inspiration.

Thnx Mirjam and Karin for all these lovely questions!

Artis de Partis part II

Recently I published a post about Artis de Partis, the cute knitted hero living in so many dutch houses.

I received these nice pictures of Artis de Partis hanging around at:
* the bedroom of Evie on &SUUS
* the bench of Hanneke de Wit
* at Knoopjes blog almost run over by a Little Tikes car
* Bregje's place: teesandotherstuff

Thnx for these original pictures!

More pictures are still welcome for Artis de Partis part III :)

Artis de Partis part I

I'm in love with Artis de Partis!
For me it symbolizes visiting Artis with the kids. On one occasion we bought the very cute Artis de Partis hat for Floor and a couple of small key rings. And last april we found our large knitted Artis de Partis at the Queens market in Amsterdam.

But Artis the Partis is more than just a nice Artis mascotte. He is a great interior item spotted in lots of nurseries and kids rooms in interior magazines. Casually stealing the show! Like our Artis the Partis in Floor's bedroom.

Do you also have this interior hero living in your home? I would love to receive a picture of your Artis de Partis styled in his usual spot for an Artis de Partis part II post. You can send it to metmelkensuiker@gmail.com.

my fleeting moments of happiness

VTwonen huis #woonbeurs via lekker friss

Being very busy with my study and having a lot on my mind these days, I didn't have enough time and space to blog as much as I want.
But I followed all my favorite blogs and twitter to see all the inspiring pictures made at the Woonbeurs and read the enthousiastic stories of all the bloggers staying in the bloggerhomes this week.
While being in Utrecht on friday I managed to visit the ARM-thriftshops. So my pile of vintage blankets for my makeover-project is growing steadily.
And I am so happy with my new crochet iPhone-cover I received as a gift.
Realising there are always fleeting moments of happiness!

bohemian mix in xxx

Enter this home in Amsterdam full of bohemian influences from Ibiza. The owners of this great placed lived there for a couple of years.
Love the atmosphere of a white home with black accents, wood and a touch of color.

lovely blessings

This week we enjoyed the sun:
* celebrating Pippi's 7th birtday at the beach in Zandvoort on monday
* walking along the canals in Amsterdam on flip flops on tuesday; and
* spending most of the other days swimming, sunbathing and having diner in our garden
It was a lovely week to spend our holiday and have so much quality time with our kids!

shoppinglist XXX

Interior shopping in Amsterdam to me means visiting distinctive stores that don't exist in my own homepart of the country. So on my shoppinglist were: Sukha Amsterdam, OPTIONS! and Hutspot.
I went to Options and Sukha, accidentally bumping into Frozen Fountain on my way to Sukha.
And as I expected I fell in love with these original shops, selling so many beautiful interior and lifestyle products.

At Sukha Amsterdam (1,2,3) I bought 'The World of Sukha' containing a collection of the great poetry made by Jaap Langenberg. It was put in a paper bag with the great dutch poem:

Wat je ook met je meeneemt
Je hoeft het maar te vragen
Laat het lekker los
Ik zal het voor je dragen

OPTIONS! (4) is a great department store selling design specials and dutch handcraft situated at the Damrak underneath the Exchange hotel, with rooms dressed like models.

Frozen Fountain (5,6) is a store located at the Prinsengracht. In their shop window I saw the white Mal 1956 by Bob Copray and Niels Wildenberg and the shadylace parasol by Droog pulling me inside.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to visit Hutspot because of the great weather and therefore the opportunity to spent a day at the beach. So there is a nice excuse to go back to Amsterdam soon!

FAIR+FAIR

Staying at the Singel in Amsterdam for some days I had made a list of interior design shops I wanted to attend.
While shopping some cute dresses for Pip's birthday last monday at Exota, we walked home to the apartment. Then all of a sudden I discovered a great lifestyle shop at the corner Herengracht - Raadhuisstraat called FAIR+FAIR
FAIR+FAIR stands for FAIR shopping for a FAIR home with really wonderful, mostly handmade, accessories from all over the world.
It wasn't on my shoplist, but I can only advice you to put it on yours :)
